OUR MISSION
Twenty years ago, Great Falls lost an extraordinary young man. Derek Dowson was just 16—a star athlete, a devoted son and brother, a friend who made everyone around him better. His life was cut short in a tragic farming accident, but his legacy refuses to fade.
From grief has grown something powerful. The Derek Dowson Foundation exists to ensure his impact continues to shape young lives—by removing the financial barriers that keep kids from participating in the activities that build character, confidence, and community. Sports, music, arts, whatever sparks a kid's passion: if it helps a young person grow, we want to help make it happen.
Talent and potential exist in every child.
Opportunity doesn't always reach everyone equally. Through annual scholarships and year-round activity grants, we're working to change that—one kid at a time.

Punt, Pass & Kick Competition

A classic skills competition for young athletes to showcase their football abilities. All ages welcome, all skill levels celebrated.
Derek's Closet - Gear Exchange

A year-round program where families can donate outgrown sports equipment, instruments, and activity gear, and kids can "shop" for what they need at no cost. Reducing barriers, building community, and making sure good gear gets to kids who need it.
